They said I'd never use my rhetoric studies outside of academia, but they were wrong! Everything about writing has the power to persuade - from how you use punctuation to create flow to the tone you choose based on your audience. I love the challenge of creating copy that helps clients achieve their goals by effectively targeting their audiences. As a developer, I also have a unique perspective of digital readers and users that allows me to optimize web content even further.
While much of my career has been spent on the other side of the editorial line as an editor, I have been privileged to have my work published on occasion. For me, most writing is all about the readers. I enjoy the challenge of creating the tone and content that each outlet's readers will find relatable, informative, and enjoyable.
Most of my writing is for readers ... but some of it is just for me. For as long as I can remember, creative writing has been free therapy. It's a place where I can make words dance to cadences that have no place in professional content - a place where the poetry and beauty of words can take flight. In all their forms, I believe in the deeply pervasive, and often under-appreciated power of words.
